Erin has been up to a lot of things now. Aside from being more stable as she walks independently, there is an emerging personality that we have observed for quite some time now. In a matter of weeks, she has learned the art of screaming extremely well and has proven this on our hour long plane ride from Melbourne. The other passengers were not so pleased by this, to say the least. And neither were we.
She’s very active too. As proof of that, she is now sporting a new wound on her nose. She fell down the bed earlier this week. Poor baby! She moves so fast these days, we have to be always on guard. On the bright side though, she’s been like a sponge and has been learning so many antics these past few days. I’ve managed to make her imitate me while we sing action songs (e.g. Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star). She had so many tricks up her sleeve at yesterday’s lunch with our relatives, which was all she needed to win everybody’s heart.

I haven’t posted much about the little girl lately. So here’s a couple of pictures I took of her in our bathroom yesterday. I also put on some velcro rollers just for fun.

Yesterday was a cold and dreary day. But that did not dampen our spirits. The day has finally come for us to celebrate Erin’s first birthday with our family and friends here in the ACT.
Not everyone we invited came. We were expecting it as it was the long weekend and people may have already planned things way before we did. But inspite of that, the place was packed and I was actually sweating going around, entertaining our guests and tending to Erin.
As usual, the food was abundant. Thanks to my sister-in-law J, our extended family members Ninang E, M, A and E, plus our dear close friends R, W and C. A few other Filipino Canberrans (R, A, and M) brought in food to add to our menu. If not for these people, our party would not have been a success.

And what would a birthday be without a birthday cake? Erin had two yesterday — one vanilla-flavored with her favorite Huckle cat and Lowly Worm on top (courtesy of C) and one mocha-flavored (by M) which was equally delicious as well. R & W’s 12-year-old daughter K baked some lovely mini cupcakes, which the kids loved because they were small and easier to eat.

There were no games for the little kids. We were all soooo busy tending to our guests! Anyway, here’s the little girl with all of her pressies!

Happy Easter, everyone!

It was Erin’s first birthday yesterday so we thought of going out to celebrate. It was just J, Erin and me at first but we saw family friend A at Canberra Centre so we invited her to dinner as well.
We initially wanted to eat at The Canberra Football Club in Deakin for some Yum Cha but since we were already in the city we thought of just finding another place to eat there. We ate at Sammy’s for some chow mein, shan tung chicken (my favorite), Sammy’s kitchen special and special friend rice. After dinner, we transferred to nearby Babar for dessert and coffee. A and I had ordered the Tiramisu while J had a piece of their Mars bar cheesecake. We had these with iced coffee, which was yummy too!
We also bought a cake from Michel’s for the little girl, basically for picture-taking purposes and for posterity as well. Since we were all so full from the dinner and the dessert that we had, we were not able to take a bite of it. We’re reserving it for tonight.
