It’s funny how life throws you a curve ball when you think you’re all done with them. I would have thought things would be smooth sailing again for me but last night my laptop died. As in, it just conked out while I was in the middle of playing Scrabble on Facebook. I don’t know if it’s the battery or something else.

I know it is nothing that serious but at this time we were hoping we can do away with the unexpected spending and concentrate on saving. So maybe I can do away with my laptop for now, but for how long? I guess this means J and I have to take turns again with using the desktop PC until that laptop gets fixed (if it ever does get fixed!). Otherwise, I may be looking again into buying another one.

Alright, enough moping. Time for me to get busy and do some more work on the PC (like read up on this Rochester personal injury lawyer) before hubby comes home.

After all the pressure and trials from work, I am glad we are finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. To start things off, I passed my driver’s exam yesterday! You cannot imagine the relief I felt once the examiner told me he was passing me yesterday. But I guess the picture on my driver’s licence (full licence, that is — not a P one by the way ) is proof enough of how happy I was having surpassed that nerve-wracking experience for the second time. This time though, I reaped positive results and am still over the moon about it!

Other than that, my practice audit application for my OT qualifications are well under way with a supervisor to guide me through. This is after several weeks of persuading management to get me a supervisor ASAP especially since a colleague has recently resigned. I am just crossing my fingers (and toes once again!) that I can submit this before the 1st of July.

That’s it for me so far. Have to brainstorm for some home makeovers (like transitioning from ceramic tile to timber, etc) in time for my mom and sisters’ visit in spring. I’ll try to update you guys as much as I can in the following weeks. Hope you all have a good week ahead!

In this busy life that I now lead, I am beginning to miss things which I used to do, namely cooking and blogging.

Truth is, as much as I want to cook dinner for us every night, it seems not possible anymore. By the time I come from work, all I really want to do is sleep. Though my job is not really involve much physical activity, all that mental stress can certainly give you a workout, it drains all your energy come dinnertime. I know some people’s appetite increases when they are tired, but not for me. So yeah, I admit that I am guilty sometimes of opening a can of sardines or corned beef when it’s one of those nights. Fortunately, my two companions here are not picky eaters so they will eat whatever’s on the table. Yes I do feel bad about it, so whenever I got days off, I cook a huge batch of a variety of dinner food, and just reheat it during the weekdays. And that for us works, and I guess for most busy families I know as well.

Speaking of busy, I better get some other things done too (like read up on breeches). It never ends.

Earlier this evening, I attended a farewell dinner for one of my workmates at Au Lac, a nice Vegetarian Thai restaurant in Dickson. We were all actually late for that booking as everyone was trying to finish all their paperwork at the office, it being the last day of the workweek, rushing off to close the office and turn on the wireless alarm.

Anyway, the place is bursting in the seams with customers. This workmate of mine is on a Vegan diet and she suggested the restaurant as it was her favorite, and she certainly isn’t alone on that one. But I am not surprised as the food there was very delicious! It was such a lovely food trip experience because I never realised that things like barbecued soy chicken on a skewer (just to name one) could taste that great.

Well, I am definitely going to bring the family there. I’m sure J will enjoy it as much as I did.

Yes, I do tend to think a lot, but I’d have to disagree with “Thinking hard feels good!” LOL.

I haven’t felt like posting for a week now. There was just too much happening at home and at work, which didn’t really help in getting me in the mood for blogging.

The little girl was sick for almost a week with gastroenteritis. For a while there, we were scared of her having liver problems because the way she was excreting and it did take a while for her illness to resolve. Our GP reassured us that it was nothing to be concerned of would have looked sicked had it been a liver problem in the first place. So thank God for that. She did lose some weight after that ordeal but ever since she’s gotten well, her appetite has really picked up! She’s gained back all the weight that she lost, and probably even more. I hope this isn’t just a phase, and that she continues to have that appetite for as long as possible.

Work-wise, it’s been very busy and I expect it to get even worse in the coming weeks as a colleague is resigning this week, and I will be handed over half of her cases. This also makes me the company’s only OT so that puts additional pressure on me as well. I am also trying to get my practice audit in place. Hopefully, that part gets ironed out this week so I can commence on soon. I wish it was as easy as one of those admin careers, but it isn’t. I may even look into adding another work day so work is not all compressed in my 3-day work week.

Gosh, there’s lots of things happening as you can see. And sometimes it does feel overwhelming. I guess taking it one day at time will help. Will try to keep you guys posted as much as I can.

Well, it seems purchasing a second car will have to be postponed for now. Much to everyone’s dismay (more so with mine), I failed that darn driving exam last Monday. Would you believe I only missed the passing mark by a three measly points? Ah yes, that Monday was a terribly sad and frustrating day for me. But towards the end of the same day, I managed to go back to the Shopfront in Tuggeranong and book myself immediately for the next soonest exam. It’s on the third week of next month so hopefully that will give me enough time to review again and hopefully I will be able to show more confidence in my driving.

So I guess it is back to the bus for me, not that I am complaining because I am forced to walk and get my occasional doses of exercise, which is, in my opinion, a good thing. Those diet pills will have to wait.

I don’t know if you guys are familiar with Master Chef. It’s a reality TV show here in Oz about wanna-be chefs vying for the title of Master Chef. As usual, J and I are avid followers of the series ever since it aired several weeks ago.

I especially like the pressure test and the celebrity chef challenge. In the former, the worst three performers battle against each other and cook for their life so that they can still remain in the competition. They are all given one recipe of a dish to follow. Whoever cooks the worst version of that dish gets booted off the competition. With the celebrity chef challenge, the best performer from the invention test goes head-to-head against a noted Australian celebrity chef. Both must cook a dish that the celebrity chef has come up with. If the challenger manages to score higher than the celebrity chef, he/she gets a free ride to the Master Chef finals.

I love watching cooking shows so it is not surprise that I enjoy watching MC as well. Watching these contestants concoct new dishes, frantic on the bench top and copper kitchen sinks, is a delight. I suppose this stems from my being a frustrated cook, more so nowadays as I don’t have as much time as before to cook the things that I want.

Anyway… if you’re curious about MC and want to learn more about it, click here.

I can’t believe how busy I’ve become ever since I accepted that job a month ago. I guess what really bothers me is that I have to catch up on chores which I really am not keen about like ironing. And now that I have to wear more work clothes than those for just at home, my ironing load has increased as most of it’s not wrinkle-free.

Enough whinging. I haven’t been in a blogging mood lately as I am down with the colds. Erin caught it last week when she came home from daycare last Friday. My workmate had it too so I guess I got the bug from either of them (or both!). I hope this will go away tonight because I’m working tomorrow until Friday.

Oh and speaking of work, I’ve been doing a lot of shadowing recently, tagging along with the other consultants to get a feel of what my job entails. And yes, I was assigned my first client, which I assessed last week. It was nerve-wracking doing the interview, but my colleague supervised me the whole time so it was all good. I am looking forward to courses and trainings I have to take in the next few months as well.

Overall, it’s been a good mix of work and home life. But I still have to find an efficient way to manage it and balance it all together. Hope you all have good week ahead!
