Career Moves
Posted by Leah as Mommy Diaries, One for the Piggy Bank, Work
Now that the little girl ain’t so little anymore and maybe ready for daycare, I am getting myself ready to go back into the workforce soon, some time next year if possible. I’ve actually gotten good news from the professional association I am planning to be part of. They said I can now practice my profession in the ACT anytime since our state does not require registration. Also, my friend told me that I can retake the US certification exam this year. If I pass that one, it’ll give me more career options of being able to find work not only in Oz but also in the US (which reminds me to update my resume and compare it to Atlanta resumes so I know what I need to work more on). Oh, and I also plan to finally retake that driver’s exam when I get back to Oz since a license is usually a requirement in most jobs in my field. That is quite a handful of stuff to do before the year ends so I am gonna need all the luck that I can get!

It is the start of the weekend (yey!) and it looks like it is off to a good start. J has been informed today that he was accepted for a job position he applied for some months ago. He’s pretty ecstatic about it as he was dancing about our lounge area when he read the letter from his new employer. We are all happy for him. But, I reckon the best part of it all is that we heard from our broker who gave us the good news. Yes, our loan application has finally been approved! And from the looks of it, we won’t have to postpone our trip anymore. All’s well that ends well.
Alright, on to this week’s feast…
Appetizer
What is the nearest big city to your home?
Nearest to the ACT is of course Sydney. It’s just a three-hour drive away, whereas Melbourne is 8 hours away if you’re planning to take a road trip.
Soup
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how well do you keep secrets?
I think I am an 8. I am a fairly good keeper of secrets.
Salad
Describe your hair (color, texture, length).
It’s black and never been colored in a long while, dry (from the cold weather and desperately in need of hot oil treatment) and grazes just below the shoulder.
Main Course
What kind of driver are you? Courteous? Aggressive? Slow?
I can be aggressive if I want to. But I am generally an okay driver. I am easily distracted though and can forget at times a few no-no’s, like turning off the engine before putting the gear in neutral. But those are rare occasions. Silly me.
Dessert
When was the last time you had a really bad week?
The last time was a long time ago. The worst I suppose when I was still adjusting to Erin and had several weeks of the post natal blues. That was last year.
Have a great weekend everyone! ![]()

16 to go

Sixteen is a huge number. It is the number of assignments I am due to submit next week. But being the workaholic blog addict that I am, I plan to get them all done by Monday so I can concentrate more on preparing for our trip to Melbourne on the 20th.
How do you think I can accomplish all that in just 2 days? Sleepless nights may be the answer. Geez, I can just see myself all hunched up in front of the laptop in the wee hours of the morning, with eyes very red and puffy. That would definitely call for a posture corrector. Ah yes, the things we do for moolah. ![]()
