On Migrants
Australia is a nation of migrants. I mean, the only people who you can truly call Australians are the Aboriginals. The rest came from different countries from all over the world, which is really what makes most of the Aussie population. And as such, a few groups wanted to recount the history of every person that’s migrated here using a physical structure of some sort. First it was the Welcome Wall in Sydney, and now the Immigration Bridge in Canberra.
I’ve been seeing their ads on the telly occasionally and am wanting to engrave our names on these structures, especially the one here in Canberra. But my golly, they are sooo expensive! I know it will immortalise our names but gee, I am not just ready yet to part with a hundred bucks for only a line. So I guess it’s a no-go for now. In the meantime though, I did get a kick reading the immigration stories posted by several Aussies online, so much so that I scoured all 45 pages just to look for fellow Filipinos who were willing to tell their migration tale. I was glad to see a few, 6 to be exact.
I reckon I must have been too engrossed in reading, I forgot to do today’s laundry. Oops! So I guess it’s bye bye for now. See ya around!
