Spinning Spammers

stoptheftmine1.jpgArgh! As if there weren’t enough plagiarists in the world! Fellow bloggers, be forewarned! If you haven’t read the news about it yet, then for your own blog’s sake, please do. Here’s an excerpt of Lorelle’s article on the latest form of site scraping.

Jonathan calls them “Spinning Spammers”, and they are using Plugins and utilities for synonymized scraping of your blog. The process scrapes your blog feed and then “translates” your content using synonyms to replace recognizable words.

While I’m totally against copying blog posts, I don’t really understand the point. I mean, what does the splogger get out of it? And does the original blogger really lose out? I mean, I read the example and the splogged entry made no sense, so I can’t see that people would actually go visit that site anyway.
