Australian Open – Men’s Finals

Roger Federer did it again. He won three straight sets last night against Fernando Gonzalez in the men’s finals in the Australian Open at the Rod Laver arena in Melbourne. Actually, I’m no Federer fan having been lost in touch with the world of tennis for quite some time. I was actually rooting for Gonzalez as I usually go for the underdogs. In fairness, Gonzalez played some really good tennis against some top-seeded guys like Nadal and Hewitt so I really thought he had a great chance at beating Federer.

But Federer was just too good for him. No doubt about that. He is obviously at the peak of his tennis career at the moment and it seems there’s no stopping him now. Gonzalez, on the other hand, has upped his ranking based on his performance in the Australian Open and I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing more of him in the other tournaments in the days to come.
